Taking these late afternoon or early evening works really well for me. I find myself sleeping much better at night and feeling much more relaxed by the time I'm ready for bed. I've tried prescription medication for mild anxiety induced insomnia, and for me, personally, this actually works as well as the medication. (Obviously this can't and shouldn't replace needed mental health medication in any way.) I believe that especially the 5-HTP is working really well for me. The capsules are a fairly standard size and are smooth and easy to swallow and I haven't noticed any negative side-effects.
If you find yourself having weird dreams, try halving the dose and that is what worked for me. 100mg can be a lot to start with but the other supplements in this sleep blend are great. I was able to halve the dose and then begin taking the full dose by the weekend.
I read a European study many years ago and decided to take 5HTP for mood. Over months it worked very well, but that one day in the middle of a store I was hit with what must have been a dramatic decrease in serotonin and simply froze in place, terrified.The amount I took is nowhere near an amount that makes sense with this supplement. I have finished it and find no reason to believe the ingredient listing isn't genuine. It took approximately 3 weeks for benefits to kick in regarding mood and possibly weight management. I did start out with just 50 to prevent side effects and allow my body to adjust and then grew it to 150mg. The below suggestions I found relate only to 5-HTP which is a precursor for L-Tryptophan that is also included in this supplement. Weight management: 250–300 mg, 30 minutes prior to a meal Mood enhancement: 50–100 mg, 3 times per day with meals. Use for at least one week to notice a benefit Fibromyalgia symptom relief: 100 mg, 3–4 times per day with meals. Use for at least two weeks to notice a beneficial effectMigraines: 100–200 mg, 2–3 times per day with meals.
